How to Use Mono Tub
-
PREPARE THE MONO TUB
- Clean the tub: Wipe down the interior with 70% isopropyl alcohol or another sanitizing solution.
- Attach Micropose filters.
- Add a liner (optional): Line the bottom of the tub with a black trash bag or similar material to prevent side pinning.
-
ADD SUBSTRATE
- Layer the substrate: Spread 2–3 inches of hydrated substrate evenly on the bottom of the tub.
-
ADD COLONIZED GRAIN SPAWN
- Break up your colonized grain spawn into small pieces and mix it evenly with the substrate.
-
TOP LAYER
- Add a thin layer of substrate (¼–½ inch) over the spawn to create an even surface. This optional step helps with even colonization.
-
INCUBATE FOR COLONIZATION
- Place the lid on the tub and keep the filters in place for proper gas exchange (not full fresh air exchange).
- Store the tub in a warm, dark location (70-78°F). Avoid direct sunlight or overly humid conditions.
- Wait 10–14 days for the substrate to fully colonize. You'll know it's ready when the surface is covered with white mycelium.
-
FRUITING CONDITIONS
- Once the substrate is fully colonized, introduce fruiting conditions by lightly misting the surface if it looks dry.
- Fan the tub once or twice daily if additional fresh air exchange is needed.

HARVESTING
- Harvest mushrooms when the veil under the cap begins to tear away from the stem.
- Remove the spent substrate after the flushes are complete.
- Wash and sanitize the tub before reusing it for your next grow.
Results may vary, largely dependent on having a clean liquid culture and a sterile process.
