FREE SHIPPING | SAME-DAY SHIPPING BEFORE 12 PM MST (MON–FRI)
Skip the pressure cooker and the pouring mess. Our pre-poured agar plates arrive sterile and ready to inoculate, so you can go straight to germinating spores, cloning tissue, and isolating clean, vigorous strains.

Poured fresh every week and quality-checked for 7 days before shipping. Every batch rests a full week and is checked for visible contamination before it leaves our lab.
Each plate is poured with Malt Extract Yeast Agar (MEYA) made with premium, lab-grade Gelidium agar. Gelidium sets firm and smooth, holds up well to cutting and transfers, and gives a clear surface that makes contamination easier to spot early.
What's in the Box
- 10 or 20 CELLTREAT® 100 × 15 mm grip-ring petri dishes, pre-poured with MEYA
- Plates protected in shrink tubing and packed in heavy-duty 4 mil poly bags to preserve moisture and freshness
Sealing film isn't included. Add our Laboratory Grafting Film to seal your plates after inoculation.
Why CELLTREAT Dishes?
CELLTREAT dishes are made from thicker, more durable polystyrene than standard petri dishes. The grip ring makes them easier to handle with gloves in a still air box or flow hood, and the vented lids allow gas exchange.
Specifications
- Dish: CELLTREAT® 100 × 15 mm grip-ring petri dish (approx. 90 mm / 3.5" diameter excluding the grip ring)
- Material: Thick-walled, lab-grade polystyrene with a vented lid
- Growth Area: 55 cm²
- Medium: MEYA with lab-grade Gelidium agar
- Shelf Life: 6+ months stored sealed in a cool, dark place (60–70°F)
What You Can Do With Them
- Germinate spores from a syringe or spore print
- Clone mushrooms from fresh tissue
- Isolate strains by transferring healthy mycelium to a fresh plate
- Clean up contaminated cultures through repeated transfers
- Store and expand cultures before moving to grain spawn
How to Use
- Work in a still air box or in front of a flow hood. Wipe down surfaces and gloves with isopropyl alcohol.
- Cut the plate you need out of the shrink tubing with clean scissors or a scalpel. Keep the rest wrapped in their poly bag.
- Lift the lid just enough to inoculate with spore solution, a sliver of tissue, or a wedge from another plate.
- Seal the edge with grafting film or parafilm.
- Label and incubate, typically at 70–75°F for many commonly cultivated varieties.
- Transfer clean, healthy mycelium to a fresh plate or straight to grain.
Storage
- Store plates in their original packaging in a cool, dark place, ideally 60–70°F, away from heat and temperature swings.
- Refrigeration can cause condensation. If you refrigerate, let plates return to room temperature before opening.
- Do not freeze. Inspect plates before use for contamination or dehydration.
Frequently Asked Questions
MEYA vs. PDA vs. MEA: Which is best?
All three are popular. MEYA adds yeast extract to traditional malt extract agar for extra nutrients that support vigorous mycelial growth, making it an excellent all-around choice for germination, cloning, and expansion.
Are these good for beginners?
Yes! Pre-poured plates skip the hardest, most contamination-prone step: sterilizing and pouring agar yourself. You'll still need good sterile technique once you open them.
What if a plate arrives contaminated?
If an unopened plate arrives contaminated, email a photo and your order number to hello@sporesorcery.com within seven days of delivery, and we'll replace it.
How fast is shipping?
Free on every order. Orders before 12 PM Arizona time (MST), Mon–Fri, ship the same business day; later, weekend, or holiday orders ship the next business day.
